SWOT Analysis

My partner and I were able to come up with an idea for a corporate video for Laswap sixth form that we felt would represent the school in a positive and realistic light. We plan on beginning our video with a shot of a student explaining the positive aspects of the school, and what they have gained from attending, either education, skills based or how their character and socialising abilities have progressed. Focusing throughout the video on how these things will help students when it comes to beginning higher education.

The strengths of the idea when it comes to filming is the practicality, as we will be filming within the four different schools which we are currently attending and are all a short walking distance apart. We will collect a range of different students with different experiences who will be able to give their opinion, this will give the viewer an idea of who attends the school and the attitude the students have towards the college. The video will also include shots of students walking around the different school buildings; this clearly shows the range of learning environments available and how they come together. Having short clips of what people think about the school will allow us to insert as many opinions as possible from students, faculty members and parents.

Weaknesses of our plans for the corporate video are that we won’t be able to include all the 40 courses available at the college in the video, this means it may lack information for some potential students although we will focus on the most popular subjects and the rest can be looked at in detail on the college website which will be named in the video. Another weakness in the filming will be finding the correct people that will be able to represent the school in the way we have envisioned, the availability of students, parents and faculty members may also occur as an issue to make sure we get all the interviews we need we will strategically plan suitable times to film for example we will film parents on year 13 parents evening, students at lunch times and after school when they aren’t in lessons and teachers after school or when they can arrange a free time slot.

Opportunities in our favour in the filming process will be that since we attend the school we will have access to all the different rooms available and also know what parts of the buildings will put the college in a positive light and show what it has to offer, to add to this we also know students from the different bases and will be able to collect a range of interviews from students we know will deliver a great interview.

Some threats that may occur in making the corporate video are that we are unable to film enough interviews, or the interviews we do collect don’t represent the school in the way we had planed. We will be filming when school is open and this may lead to some disruptions form students and teachers so we must consider this when filming and how it will look in the final pr
