legal and ethnical contraints

I have considered the legal and ethical constraints on production.we found a range of legal constraints which could hold us back when making our short film resulting to time being wasted
  • Copyright on different music, artwork, script and architecture as well as locations
This is when using others peoples work without their permission or call it your own this can be a great issue and is seen as copyright for example if i wanted to use a artists work like a singer like adele i must first get permission from her and make a payment so that i can use in my production this is when it then becomes okay although fi their work is used without their permission it can lead to being sued by the artist and fined. similarly same rules apply to architecture and buildings without permission your are not allowed to show the buildings in your piece of film in the different locations without a warrant
  • Illegal acts on films
This is a law in which does not allow actual filming of animal cruelty be filmed or filming of real life murder this is not acceptable in film as it can be very horrible for viewers to watch.
  • Use of locations without permission
This links ti my first point if you have no permission to film in a location and you are caught filming by the police you will be asked for prof of permission and if you can not give this you will be asked to move as well as this before you film a building you must have permission from the different companies that sell the copyright to the building as without the is you will get sued for showing their building
  • Breaking health and safety regulations and laws on set
This could be done by filming in locations that are not suitable and brake safety regulations for example somewhere where temperatures are very low and it is snowing this could be very dangerous for the crew and cast and could lead to accidents which can then mean having to stop filming.
  • Use of members of public without their permission as well as people featuring in the film for example close ups of their faces without them giving permission
When filming in public places many people walk past and to avoid anyone being filmed without permission or knowing there should be signs put up so people are aware and if they dont want to be present in scenes then they can avoid the location, if signs can not be shown for any reason then people that have not given permissions faces can be slightly blurred hiding their identity. if someones face is filmed without permission law suits can be filed and people are able to sue

We also looked into ethnical constraints and what is acceptable on a film set
  • Behaviour at work and how you treat your colleagues
Everyone on set must be treated with respect and treated fairly, they must all also sick to their jobs and not mix with other as they are only being payed for that job and if someone can do more then one job then others will fear losing their job so its best to stay doing your own job
  • Ultra violence in a film which gives it a higher viewing certificate which means less people watching and also could result to younger people taking inspiration from
Violence can be acceptable in a film depending on how much of it is showed and how it is showed to the audience for example positively or negatively. a high amount of violence could lead to sending bad messages to the younger generations and so mean a higher viewing certificate which means less people will view it and this is not great for a film maker as that is the whole point of making a film getting a large amount of people to view it.
  • Being apart of a union
Being apart of a union means that you are treated correctly in the workplace and if there is any problems with how you are bing treated or the amount you are being payed there is somewhere you can go for help they organise strikes to take place if there are rules that get broken. the two known in the film industry are Pact and Bectrum.
