task one- forms of tv advertising
This advert takes the route of anti realist as well as being a series advert where each advert that the company produces is a continuation from previous adverts although the character may be in a realist environment the character itself is very anti realist as it is based on a clothed, talking meerkat this attracts more attention although it has very little to do with what they are marketing
In this colgate advert the form of commercial that is used is talking heads this means there are actors used to talk about the product and essentially sell it to the viewer by talking about how it works for them and what its positives are having them talk in the position of the consumer. the positives to this type of advert is it can persuade people who may be unsure about buying the product to give it a try on the other hand having actors talk about the product may make some consumers feel like the product may not be what the actors say it is because they have been paid to talk bout the product positively.
the BT adverts are a great example of series adverts they have a plot and every time they make a new advert it continues from the story of the last one this connects the viewer and is a very different kind of advert because it means being able to make something that can then be recognisable by viewers and something to look forward too. This could also then mean more consumers as the three main characters are young and up to date with the newest technology and the advert shows to the viewer what having their product in their home would be like and its benefits. although the negatives to this kind of advert is it can become very annoying to viewers and can become overly played as it is an advert and appears on TV several times a day people can become fed up with it and lose interest in what they are trying to sell.
This advert is filmed in the form of a documentary as it is filmed on a hand held this makes it look less planed out and more in the moment and real which is why it gives it the effect of a documentary the positive aspects to this kind of advert is it brings the viewers attention in because it is a different kind of advert that isn't commonly seen and also brings an aspect if entertainment. positives to this type of advert is that it at the same time advertises the product and also raises awareness for something else for example animal cruelty, negatives are some people may not be able to understand the point they are
trying to get across and it can become annoying after being shown so often.
in this advert animation has been used throughout showing a two versions of a character as they come together, the ale light colours represent the product they are selling and this would not be achieved as well without animation. positive aspects to this kind of advert is it can be as creative as possible and also tell a story that wouldn't be possible without animation, animation also connects with the whole family and makes you think very positively about the company. Negatives to this kind of ad is that people aren't able to put them selves in the position of the characters as much as they would if it was a real person.
This is an example of a stand alone advert which means that there is only one part to it and there is no continuation in other adverts. this is the most common form of advert and simply gets the message to the viewer about the product they are selling this can be very successful as people will not get as fed up with the companies adverts because every time there is a new ad it is something different on the other hand having a stand alone advert can also mean that people aren't as connected with your adverts
this weight watchers advert is an example of a realist narrative because it is realistic it shows the relationship between mother and daughter while the mother speaks about it, this kind of ad get the viewer to connects they can place themselves in the position of their person they are watching and this makes what they are selling feel much more real which results into much more people buying in to it.
