The Target
audience I would like to address in my radio interview is young people ages 17-20 years old, who are
up to date with today’s technology, this is because i feel this subject effects this age range the strongest. I will look into interviewing more than one
person with different experiences so that my show is not bias and contains
diverse opinions for example people in long term relationships, people not in
relationships although have an opinion on the matter and have a linked
experience.
As i will be constructing my radio show outside of school i am going to have to use my own material and equipment to record the interviews. the necessary equipment that i will be using to create a successful interview are, a 'Cannon SLR' camera so that i can have footage of the interview which is usually posted on the website of the radio station, as well as a 'Zoom HD audio recorder', this will assure the audio for the piece is consistent throughout and flows.
I will be using the knowledge i have gained in researching interviews to conducting my own interviews, making sure i look presentable and am dressed professionally for the occasion, as well as have good body language so that the interviewee can feel comfortable and feel that you are engaged with the conversation. it is also key that i ask the right types of questions (e.g. direct, multiple, open, closed) as well as speaking with clarity so that there is no confusion and the interview runs smoothly also so that it is easy to hear in the recording and sound professional.
The questions i will be asking and in what order they are in is key to having an organised interview that
reaches the goal I have set to find out a key piece of information. i will do this by planning a script of the questions i am going to ask although should be prepared to also go off script and this is done by doing research and being prepared for the interview. Focusing on
what kind of tone i would like my interview to be in is also important because it gives the listener and interviewee an idea of your intentions for the interview and what you would like to get across, I can then word my questions in a way that fits this, so that it is clearly
translated to the interviewee and audience.
When studying interviews i was able to learn the do's and dont's of building a strong interview that translates to the viewer the different opinions, research is key, making sure that you are aware of the subject
and recent advances in it as well as have a good knowledge of the audience and
people you are questioning and make sure they the right people to be questioning and have a strong opinion on the subject, this will mean you can go off script and have an
actual discussion about the subject this will lead to pulling more personal information from the interviewee as they become more
comfortable with you. The order you chose to ask questions also effects the way
the interview is carried out for example if you want the interviewee to feel
comfortable and want a light hearted interview starting off with a easy
question and then gradually getting to more important and difficult to answer
questions will ease the interviewee in and make them feel comfortable in
telling you more personal information.
Researching into the context I will be
exploring in my interview package, which is Social media and its effects on
relationships I was able to conduct primary and secondary research through a survey,
which I produced on ‘Survey monkey’, and articles I found online from trusted
sources, which provided me with statistics and factual information on the
matter.
