Task 1 : BBC art of interview and introduction for the handbook

In the 'BBC art of interview' podcast i found there are several different ways of performing interviews depending on who your interviewee is as well as several dos and don'ts to conducting a interview. i will be using this information to improve my interviewing skills and also adding these tips to my guide.

When listening i was able to pick up some main key points that summarised what a good interview consists of. in the podcast they explained that to have a strong interview you must first prepare, making sure you do research on the person and subject before hand as well as other details like if the person you are interviewing will be suitable for the subject matter and have something to say about it, wardrobe you must be dressed suitable to who you are interviewing also script making sure you have a large range of different questions that set the mood of the interview, making sure you know what you want to get out of the interview in the end is also key.

i    also learnt some techniques on interviewing which I was not aware of for example, if you are conducting a serious tone interview you must begin with a hard question as this in turn will set the mood to the interviewee and audience. Using rule of three you are able to get a certain bit of information from the interviewee which they may be quite hesitant to telling you this is done by asking a question three times and not settling for the first half hearted answer. lastly, interviewers must be prepared to go off script in the actual interview depending on how it goes.

Introduction
Interviews can be used in a range of different ways depending on the situation and who is being interviewed; they can be used to extract information from someone as well as to get to know a person. In some cases they will be used to get a persons opinion on a matter or event. Interviews are key in a range of different media outlets as they make audiences feel they can relate on a more personal level and understand matters in more depth.  The types of media most known for producing interviews are talk shows, news shows, radio stations, magazines and newspapers different people appear on these interviews depending on the platform, for example if it’s a news report it is much more open to a range of different people depending on the topic, although most commonly the types of people that are interviewed are those who have something to say about the subject, and listened to by the public for example celebrities and political figures as well as people directly involved with something that is being discussed.
